Business Development Representative  - Remote (Position Filled)

The Powell Group is the leader in game industry consulting and scouting. We are also the team behind the IndieGameBusiness® series of podcasts and online conferences. Established in 2010 and led by a CEO with 25 years of experience in games, we support a wide range of publishers, developers, investors, trade industry groups and support companies with an emphasis on the indie side of games. Our consultancy was boosted in 2018 with the creation of IndieGameBusiness, an initiative wholly owned by The Powell Group that promotes business education and opportunities for developers worldwide at little to no cost to the teams.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. 


  • A passion for video games and the industry
  • 1-2 years of experience in game scouting, content acquisition, business development, production, or publishing in the video game industry
  • Occasional paid travel to events and conferences (valid passport highly recommended)
  • Proficiency in a CRM system and Notion is a plus
  • Solid working knowledge of indie games with regards to what is successful and why
  • Fluent business English (written & spoken)
  • Ability to speak any additional foreign languages is a plus


  • Gather intelligence on industry and market trends from public and network resources
  • Prospecting and closing new clients through outreach and conference meetings (both online and in person)
  • Management of select accounts to ensure client satisfaction and retention
  • Provide feedback and information on market and trends
  • Identify opportunities for campaigns, services, and distribution channels that will lead company growth


  • Full time contract position 
  • True remote opportunity. We have been a remote based company for 13 years and have never needed office space. 
  • Paid travel to industry conferences worldwide
